What Does Severe Recurring Pain In Chest Indicate?

I sometimes have severe pain in my chest and have to hold my breath. When i hit myself on my chest real hard with my fist the pain goes away. The duration of the pain is about 2 sekonds and it happens about 5 times a month. Sometimes i feel it in the shoulder to.

I think you are having pleuritic pain. Better to get done chest x ray and rule out things like pneumonia pleural effusion etc.
