What Does Shadow On Fetus Heart In Ultrasound Report Indicate?

I did an ultrasound when I was 21 weeks pregnant and the doctors told me that they saw a shadow on my baby s heart, they also said that everything is normal and all ok and she looks healthy but I m a little worried that there might be something wrong. Any thoughts or ideas what it could be from?

Hi,

Echogenic intracardiac focus (EIF) is a small bright spot seen in the baby's heart on an ultrasound examination. These kind of shadows may represent mineralization, or small deposits of calcium, in the muscle of the heart. EIFs are found in about 3–5% of normal pregnancies and cause no health problems.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
