Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having sharp pain on my right side at the bottom of rib cage. There is also pain in the middle of my back.It usually comes on a couple hours after eating & leads to vomiting. It doesn’t matter what I eat. Usually this happens in the evening. I am on hormone patch for the last year after hysterectomy.
Your symptoms are suggestive of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in which hyperacidity and gas formation in the stomach leads to reverse peristaltic movements causing nausea and vomiting.
One of the reasons for hyperacidity could be H. Pylori infection in the stomach. My advice is to consult a gastroenterologist and get the investigation done to rule out H. Pylori infection. Till then you take capsule omeprazole plus domperidone one hour before a meal in morning and evening.
Avoid spicy and oily food. Avoid going to bed just after having a meal. Have a walk of 1/2-1 hour after a major meal? If the infection is detected, its treatment regime includes 2-3 medicine for two weeks. Complete it without fault to irradicate H pylori infection.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Hiren Hirpara
