What Does Sharp Pain In The Hips Be Treated?

I have been having a sharp pain in one hip that doesn t last long but I feel like it will give out . My routine blood work showed a high spike in something called aux phos . My doctor is ordering an mri. I also have low platelets in the high 40,000 to low 50,000 range. I wonder what the chances are that this is some form of bone cancer.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

My thoughts and suggestions are as below. You have pain in one hip that comes and goes with some blood tests positive that is most probably Alkaline Phosphatase and have low platelets. Hence it is important to get an MRI of the hips joint that your Doctor has already advised. It is difficult to say whether this is a bone cancer or not without an MRI and histopathology confirmation hence not to worry about it till the reports as bone cancers in this area are very rare. So stop worrying.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
