Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i was playing golf 2 days ago and while walking felt like my right knee disjointed and witnessed a couple of pops during straightening. then pain set in on inside of knee. im 63 and in great health 6 - 183 lbs. Did notice that my older golf shoes have little or no arch support. How do I know if injury is a medial legiment strain or tear or a medial meniscus tear? pain to touch is sharp on inside of knee.
medial legiment strain or tear or a medial meniscus tear. Very good! yes, with inside the knee pain and localized to one side it is something serious and those are the structures. IF knee instability, then definitely something broke that needs fixing. If there is a catch or grinding then it is definitely cartilage. The ligament CAN show POINT tenderness at the attachment (most common context). This is not necessarily in need of operation BUT they do benefit from direct examination and/or MRI.
