What Does Sigmoid Diverticulitis In MRI Results Suggest?

I received my mri results after years of lower back pain. The Impression showed a small focal right paracentral protrusion component L1,2 with a 1cm cranial extrusion component..as well as it showed that I have Sigmoid diverticulosis and left renal cyst..not sure how to read this and what should I do from here?

Hello and welcome to HCM,

The interpretation of the MRI is as follows:
The lower ache is most probably due to the protrusion of the discs ate the level of L1-L2.
Protrusion refers to displacement of the intervertebral disc.
The protruded intervertebral disc can compress the nerves which supply the particular area in the lower limb,
At this stage, complete bed rest can relive the symptoms.

Diverticulosis on MRI suggests presence of sac like structures in the colon.
These pouch like structures can be inflamed and present with pain abdomen.
Diverticulosis is managed by surgical resection of the affected intestinal segment.

Renal cysts are benign in most of cases.
However, cysts can be malignant.
If renal cyst is solitary, it can be surgically removed.
However, if multiple and not interfering with renal functions, they can be left alone.

Thanks and take care
