What Does Skin Tag Near The Anus Indicate?

Hello, I recently noticed some skin hanging near my anus. It doesn t hurt, it doesn t itch, i don t have trouble with my bowl movements, I don t have any trouble with itching or bleeding, I don t take birth control, and I have never been sexually active. It s a pretty good size piece of skin, and I m just wondering what it could be, or if I should do anything about it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If you have never been sexually active than the anal skin tag is not a sexually transmitted disease (wart) and it might just be a skin tag as it may happen everywhere in the skin or it is a hemorroid that is resolved.
In both cases you can have a visit with your doctor and see the chance to surgically remove it. Generally it is a simple procedure with local anesthesia and done within 30 minutes.

I hope this answers your query. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
