What Does Smelly Vaginal Discharge Imply?

I have recently noticed a smelly vaginal discharge that smells like garlic. I have been really itchy down there. After the itching went away, I noticed three bumps above my vagina. They weren't in a cluster, and they popped like pimples. Then they bled, and turned into closed scabs. They healed in about a week and didn't hurt or sting unless I touched them. I haven't had any more problems, but I just wanted to know if this sounds like I may have herpes.
