my wife in pregnant. in sonography report says intrauterine single foetus with vertex presentation with ga20wk 0days+/-1wk with postero-fundal placenta with ?? echogenic lung mass..



what is means ? is it dangerous ? what is the impact of this to my child.

Thanks for writing in.

A single intrauterine foetus describes the presence of a single growing baby in the uterus with age approximately 20 weeks.
The placental position is posterofundal and acceptable.

Concernin echogenic lung mass, in a high proportion of fetuses with hyperechogenic
lung lesion, there is spontaneous antenatal resolution and the underlying pathology may be transient bronchial obstruction. In few cases this may be due to a congenital airway problem. You may discuss the findings with your doctor and get another scan if necessary.
