What Does Sore Lump On Breast Of Lactating Mother Suggest?

Hi, I am a nursing mother. This time around I have had trouble with milk production and had a few instances where my nipple became inverted (something that is new to me). Yesterday I noticed a pea size lump on my breast which is sore to the touch. Is this something I should be concerned about or does this sound like a blocked duct?

Hello,
It could be a blocked duct but it could also be infection. The infection could present with redness, pain and other signs of inflammation. Infection is usually more blatant than the blocked duct. You should visit your doctor for assessment. Until then you can try a mild massage on the area. If it is the duct duct, it may be relieved.
Kind regards!
