What Does Sore Throat And A Lump Behind The Uvula Indicate?

Hi, I have a lump behind my uvula which does not hurt. I have never had this before. I also have a sore throat on the left side of my throat which I think was caused by an ulcer in the back of my throat. I have had this problem previously and it went away. Is this serious?? What shall I do?? I am very worried.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, you should definitely consult ENT doctor for this. Recurrent swelling in that area should be evaluated infection and malignancy. So consult ENT doctor and get done clinical examination and CT scan of neck. You may need excision biopsy of that swelling to confirm the diagnosis. Quit smoking if you are active smoker.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
