What Does Soreness Around An Umbilical Hernia Indicate?

I have an umbilicaord hernia, it sometimes bothers me but today it has been slightly sore and through the day has been a pink/light red color and spread slightly to the skin to one side/ of my belly. It looks irritated, I have a 2 year old I constantly pick up. Or would this be cutting off the blood supply?
