What Does Soreness On The Big Toe Indicate?

My right big toe is sore and just below, where a bunion would be. Just started. It feels warm and a bit swollen but not too bad. If you push the toe forward it hurts and hurts to walk on. Could it be gout? I have never had it before but some I know has it and thinks that the symptoms are similar.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hi, yes you are very right , the signs what you explained can well be gout, though gout would hurt much more then what you said ,but still if there is no other cause i.e. trauma etc to the toe that could explain the soreness, gout must be considered . regarding no previous episode , so this could well be the first episode.
so i would advise you must see your doc , he may take more history , and would examine you in detail . he would tell you better then.
gout is not the only possibility he would chek uric acid and an xray to see for any minor damage to the bone that could be another possibility.
