What Does Sperm Count Of 7.05M/ml Suggest In Semen Analysis ?
hi doc, my husband is 34 yrs. old and i would like to ask if the results of his semen analysis are normal.. complete analysis as follows: color-yellowish, liquefaction time is 4mins., wbc is 6-9/hpf, rbc is 2-4/hpf, motile - 65, non motile-36, sperm count is 7.05M/ml, normal form 85. waiting for your advise. thanks so much
Hello and welcome to HCM, The interpretation of semen analysis report is as follows: The physical features- color and liquefaction time are within normal limits. The sperm count is less at 7 million/ml. The normal sperm count should be equal to or more than 20 million/ml. Presence of white blood cells (WBCs) suggest presence of infection in the semen. Presence of red blood cells in semen is due to bleeding at some site in the reproductive tract. The motility of sperms should be atleast 40 % (rapid forward motion). In your case, motility of sperms is within normal limits. At least 50% of sperms should have normal morphology and in your case the morphology is more than 50%.
However, a repeat semen analysis should be done after treating the infection.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
