General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptom can be related to many medical conditions. Some of the possible causes can be:
- Stopping hormonal contraception, or even sometimes after removing an intra uterine device for birth control, one gets slight spotting for some days
- Around menopause, the menstrual cycles tend to become irregular and inter-menstrual spotting can occur
- Polyps in the uterus are another cause, for spotting.
I suggest to do a pelvic ultrasound and a hormone level for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
