What Does Spotting During 8 Weeks Of Pregnancy Indicate?

Hi I am 8 weeks pregnant. I had a few drop spotting in my underware. I called to my doctor office immediately. They told me to do bed rest. I did bed rest and it stopped after 10 to 12 hours later. What was the reason I got spotting. I happened to me last week. This is my first pregnancy. I am very worried about it .

Vaginal spotting during early pregnancy is very common. However it should not be ignored. Vaginal spotting can be due to following reasons
-Sex- More blood flows to your cervix during pregnancy, so it is common to notice spotting after intercourse.
-You may have spotting after you've had a Pap smear or internal exam
- A vaginal infection such as a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis may also be responsible for bleeding.
-Miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy- Spotting or bleeding in the first trimester, especially if accompanied by abdominal pain or cramping, can be an early sign of miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy.

You should visit a gynaecologist. You will need an evaluation, which include a physical exam, an ultrasound and blood tests to make sure you and your baby are fine and to rule out any complications.
