Thanks for asking in healthcaremagic forum
Stabbing chest pain can be due to,
a. Gastritis
b. Gastro esophagial reflux disease
c. Ulcer gastric/duodenum
d. Dissecting aneurysm of aorta etc
So, your doctor is right in prescribing you medicine for acidity and it takes time(few days) for relief. If not please visit your doctor again to rule out other possibilities.
All the best.
