What Does Sudden Episode Of Dizziness And Sweating In An Elderly Person Indicate?

I am 65 and yesterday I spent 4 or 5 hours working in the yard without eating or drinking much. I had a roll and some noodles with a glass of wine for lunch and when watching the Olympics had a beer and 6 ounces of pistachio nuts. Upon going back outside, I became very dizzy and sweating. I went in to lie down and vomited 3 times within an hour. Vomited one more time 2 hours later. I have vomited exactly one time in the past 25 years prior to this. This morning the dizziness is gone and my stomach is slightly upset. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
Given the series of events that happened, it is possible that you could have developed a mild food infection or food poisoning or indigestion to the roll and noodles. Interaction of the foods with the alcoholic drinks may be a possibility too. It is advisable to avoid all oily/ greasy foods, eat more of bland foods like fruits, vegetables, crackers, plenty of water, toast, banana, apple sauce, yogurt, etc. Drink plenty of water, juices, coconut water, etc. and stay well hydrated. If the symptoms persist or worsen or if in case of any severe abdominal pain, loose stools or fever, consider a visit to the primary care physician for a stool analysis. Sometimes a course of antibiotics may be needed to treat abdominal infection. Viral infections would subside on their own and would not need any medications. Over the counter antacids like Tums and gasx, pepto bismol might be helpful too.
