What Does Swelling And Burning Sensation Behind The Arm Indicate?

My friend fractured her humerus yesterday and it is splinted. She sees a specialist on Monday but is having some swelling and burning in the back of the arm. She also has lupus. Is the burning normal after a fracture? Or does she need to seek care now?
