What Does Swelling And Inflammation On The Outer Ears Indicate?

My 9 year old son wears hearing aids. He just came to me several minutes ago saying his ear was hot so he took out his gearing aid. I noticed his outer ear is extremely red and looks slightly swollen. He didn’t complain of pain or itching at first, just that his ear felt really hot. I did feel his ear and it is very warm. He still doesn’t have pain, but says it started itching. I’m guessing a bug bite...I didn’t see any resemblance of that though. He has asthma and has to take allergy medicine along with his Flovent and occasional Albuterol. When tested, the only allergic reaction found was a mild one to cockroaches. I gave him allergy medicine and an ice pack for his ear. Is this more likely a bug bite?

There may be some problem with external ear, so get it checked by ENT doctor and follow remidial measure as advised. It may be fungal infection so apply candid ointment.
