What Does Swelling And Redness On The Buttocks Indicate?

Hi.. I think I my have an anal abscess. At first I thought it may be hemorrhoids, but it is very painful and my cheeks are red and swollen. If I went to a dr., which kind of Dr. should I go to? Is it possible that this happened because I was lifting heavy logs into my truck?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms seem to be related to Hemorrhoids.

Some advice that I can give to you is:
-Add fiber to your diet slowly to avoid problems with gas.
-Use topical treatments.
-Apply an over-the-counter Hemorrhoid cream or suppository containing hydrocortisone.
-Soak regularly in a warm bath or Sitz bath.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
