What Does Swelling Around The Waist On The Right Side Indicate?

My daughter’s waist has grown on her right side of her waist. She is a fast pitch pitcher. Originally we thought she was hitting her side and causing the bruising. The area is now getting hard and will go down some icing. The bruising had come and went. It is getting more painful and is getting larger. She had gastric sleeve surgery last September.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The swelling around waist with pain indicate soft tissue lesion with underlying inflammatory process of some kind. I would recommend to consult in follow up with a photo picture showing the lump for best possible evaluation and guidelines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
