What Does Swelling Below The Right Knee Indicate?

I fell earlier today and hit pretty hard on my right leg. Bruising and slight swelling appeared pretty quick after below right knee and inner calf. It was not until later in day that my swelling worsened and bruising spread. I have had tightness due to increased swelling and have had a stinging feeling as well which has caused some great discomfort. I have beared weight on it most of day with no great pain. So is it possible I could have fractured it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a small hematoma or contusion.

As of now, you can apply ice packs for symptomatic relief.

Generally, it will settle by itself in a couple of days.

If persists better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated. In that case, you might require an MRI scan for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
