What Does Swelling In Lower Leg After An Injury Indicate?
I fell last week and have a huge bruise on my knee. Today, my lower leg is swollen and hot. I do take bp medication and tried a fuerosemide earlier but it s still swollen. It s getting painful, has an orange peel texture and is hot. I have had swelling before due to high blood pressure, but I m wondering if this could be an infection due to the fall or just fluid pooling because of the injury.
Hi, From history it seems that there might be having big hematoma on knee and now it gravitated down on lrg producing edema, swelling and pain. If there is cut on the part, there is chance of having infection in hematoma. Apply ice pack on the part for few days. If pain, swelling and induration persisted then go for one antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medicine course for 5-7 days. Raise foot end and take rest. Ok and take care.
