What Does Swelling In The Fingers Indicate?

My finger is fourth finger, right hand is giving me problems when I leave it closed for a few seconds. I thought it might be arthritis, but when I awake in the morning, I don’t have any problems and I know my fingers are somewhat bloated due to “age” arthritis.
