What Does Swelling In The Left Ankle Indicate?

Hello Dr Rynne, I am very healthy, no real health issues so far, I am 58 yrs old, I weigh 215 lbs, I am 6 ft 1, all of a sudden this week developed a swollen left ankle, still can walk on on it, feels better when iced fro 10-15 minutes, I have had fro 3 days, I am confused what and where it came from, I have not experienced any injuries lately?? The only thing I suffer from is migraines once every 2 weeks or so, I am lucky I take Zomig 5 mg. and they headaches dissipate in 30 mins or less. Wondering where the left leg swollen ankle came from?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The swelling in ankle without injury mandates underlying bursa cyst around malleolus or other soft tissue lesion.

I would like to assist further if you can provide a photo picture of the same for additional focus over the issue.

Thanks.

Regards.
