What Does Swelling In The Left Knee Indicate?

presuming my 16 year old son has a ruptured bursa sac to the left medial knee. The area is fluid filled more so than just normal swelling. Xray was taken one month ago showing no bone trauma, so Dr. said deep tissue bruise. Since then (past two weeks) the area is very jiggly like jello, not the more firm swelling he had that was associated with the deep tissue bruise. Initial injury was a direct hit to the knee while tackling in football. He has not been playing football, but two weeks ago, took a shot while practicing wrestling and the movement sent him thru the roof and that is when the swelling changed. We are still icing, but wondering if indeed a ruptured bursa, if we should be compressing the area
