What Does Swelling In The Legs Indicate?

my sister has been suffering from swelling in both legs, hardening of stomach, diarhea and constipation, she has gained over 40lbs within a months time. Gastroenterologist confirmed that she has fluid in her stomach but were not able to complete a parasenthesis due to pockets being too small. she has difficulty standing, discomfort in sitting. She s not able to bend due to pain and hardness in her stomach. A ctscan last week determined the fluid and a spot in her liver. MRI is scheduled for next week but she is so frustrated. We are afraid it may be a form of cancer. thank you.
