Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Female, 49, 5 6 195Lbs. Week and half now have had red swollen patches on the inside of my mouth. They burn, my tongue burns and I have a metal taste in my mouth. Also just noticed a small white growth on the underside of my tongue. Thinking an allergic reaction to my newly prescribed Blood Pressure medicine AMLODIPINE BESYLATE 5MG T. I am just staring my second month
Swelling and red patches inside mouth seems to be due to allergic reaction, could be due to nutritional deficiency, recurrent aphthous stomatitis, dehydration, stress and intake of acidic foods. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit oral physician once and get it examined completely. Start proper course of antibiotics. Apply lidocaine gel on oral mucosa. Chew on sugar free candies. Avoid intake of sharp and spicy food. Do warm saline gargles and antiseptic mouthwash rinses. Suck on ice cubes. Apply numbing gel.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
