What Does Swelling In The Occipital Node Indicate?
I have one small swollen occipital node, but my doctor I showed thought it could be a tight muscle. I work out a lot and may have strained my neck. It’s def stuff on one side. The area seems to get big and then go down. I, tried massaging it, and rubbed it pretty hard. It’s bigger now, which makes me feel like it’s actually a node. And I keep prodding it out of anxiety. It’s not enlarging at all, unless I begin playing with it. Should I be concerned.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, it can be either a lymph node or a small lipoma so it should be evaluated by a surgeon or for reassurance ultrasound and biopsy can be done. However if isolated lymph node enlargement is present scalp infection or any local inflammation should be ruled out. Blood counts and LDH can be done alongside ESR to rule out any dangerous causes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
