What Does Swelling In The Throat Indicate?

Im 34 years old and back in February it felt like my Uvula (hanging thing in back of throat) was swelling.. I drank green tea, honey & lemon all that day..started feeling better. Now I feel as if my tonsils have dropped into my throat, they are not up high in the back of my throat like it use to be. ER doctor said test said I had no strep throat they sent me on my way. Something is wrong & with no insurance uts like I cant get an answer for this. And its as if my tounge is now slightly getting to bigger. Im scared to death. Im a single mother of 3..

Hello,

As per your query you have symptoms of swelling in the throat which is because of infection travel down the respiratory tract and affected the whole area an leads to tonsillitis/ granular pharyngitis.

I would suggest you do warm saline gargles on daily basis. You should take hot soup along with along with lemon tea with ginger extract. I would suggest you to again consult your ENT specialist for proper examination. He/she may prescribe further antibiotic course and stronger antibiotics. The doctor may also recommend a tonsillectomy. Take a combination of amoxicillin along with Levocetirizine. Take diet rich in vitamin C. Take decongestant nasal sprays containing Mucinex for instant relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
