What Does Swelling On Gums After Tooth Extraction Indicate?

My wisdom teeth were removed when I was 17 ever since then now 24 the retromolar area swells every now and then, I am a dental assistant so at work we took x-rays to see if there were any tooth fragments left behind and there's nothing what can possibly cause these areas to irritate now and then?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As per your complain inflammation and swelling in the retromolar area seems to be most commonly due to infection in that area..
There can also be some foreign body inclusion in the extraction socket that causes inflammation..
Consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated for any pocket formations in that area where there is food deposition and inflammation..

After proper evaluation only treatment can be planned..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
