What Does Swelling On The Toes Indicate?

I am a 72 year old male in good health and average weight with no history of diabetes in my family. I have recently noticed burning that is especially noticeable in the night. I do have a couple of hammer toes- one on each foot and have noticed chronic swelling of one toe on my left foot. Last physical was completely normal. Have started taking omeprozole 20mg once a day about a year ago for stomach and digestive issues.

Hello,

Maybe you have gout because usually, it starts with great toe and multiple toe pain along with swelling.

Kindly get a biopsy of the toe joint done to see if you have gout crystals and that will confirm the diagnosis.

If it is there, then any anti-inflammatory tablets will be given by any physician or better show to an orthopedic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
