What Does Tenderness And Redness On Toe After Pedicure Indicate?

I had a pedicure on Friday, and last night one toe started feeling tender. Today, it's very tender and showing a little redness. Does this mean it's infected? Is there something I can do to treat it at home until I can see my doc? I am in excellent health otherwise with no history of infections.
