My husband had a CT scan from an episode of syncope that occurred yesterday. His scan came back fine, however this was included on his results. IMPRESSION: Unremarkable unenhanced head CT. Mild mucosal thickening in bilateral ethmoid sinuses is unchanged. I'm trying to research what that means?
The CT scan of brain is completely normal as per what you have written.
Do not worry for the mild mucosal thickening in bilateral ethmoid sinuses. There are small spaces above and on sides of the nose which are extended air passages. Sometimes due to mild allergy or upper airway infection the lining of these spaces get thickened and may cause headache. This is known as sinusitis. It can be reduced with medications and protection from dust.
