What Does The MRI And CT Scan Report Mean?

MRI Report Says: “Enhancing Scar Tissue predominantly on the Right Extends into the Neural Foramina at L5-S1 Abutting the Exiting Right L5 Nerve Root and also the Descending Right S1 Nerve Root.” CT Report Says: “Soft tissue attenuation that is suspicious of scar tissue within the Right Lateral Recess, Right Neural Foramen and Postoperative Bed Posterior to the Thecal Sac at L5-S1. This soft tissue contacts the exiting Right L5 Nerve and may cause mass effect on the traversing right S1 Nerve Root.” What does this mean in plain English?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
In order to understand the MRI and CT report you need to understand the anatomy of the spinal cord and surrounding structures.
The spinal cord is a delicate tissue enclosed in the vertebral column.
A pair of 31 spinal nerves emanate from the spinal cord and traverse the bony vertebral column through foramina and recesses.
The MRI and CT scan shows that there is presence of scar tissue or dense connective tissue which is abutting the spinal nerves at the level of L5 and S1 from the level L5-S1.
Compression of the nerve by any structure leads to symptoms in the region supplied by these nerves at distant site.
In your case the compressing structure is the scar tissue.
Scar tissue is formed as a result of healing or regeneration of tissue.
You need to consult a orthopedician as well as neurologist for removal of the scar tissue and relieving the nerves from compression.

Thanks and take care
