What Does The MRI Report Indicate?

My mother went in for an MRI yesterday and an hour after she got home they called her and told her she needed to come back ASAP. So we went in this morning and they told her that she has 2 tumors, 1 on each lung. They are 5cm in size. In her report is says there are pleural-based apical masses bilaterally. What does this mean?

Hi,
MRI is magnetic resonance imaging specifically done for soft tissue lesions.
Presence of lesions anywhere deep can be evaluated through MRI scan.
The report indicates presence of two large 5 cm lesions attaching to the lung pleura at the top of the lung.
Whether the lesion is benign or malignant can be identified only through evaluation by biopsy or fine needle aspiration cytology through use of ultrasound or MRI to guide the instrument. It is called as guided biopsy or guided FNAC.
Meet you doctor to get these tests done.
Hope this helps. Any further query, happy to help again.
