What Does The MRI Report With Diffused Spondylosis At 14 15 Indicate?

I just received an MRI report on my low back lumbar area starting at l1 l2 and going all the way down through l5 s1. I just have a few questions of what does it mean..I understated more than most, as I m a chiropractor daughter who offices for over 50 yrs. But, there s a few things I m needing clarification on..here s the report summary. Impression: Findings show diffuse spondylosis most severe at l4 l5 where there is diffuse disc bulge with the superimposed right subarticular protrusion narrowing the right lateral recess with mass effect on the descending right l5 nerve root. Correlate for l5 radioculopathy to determine significance. No other significant stenosis identified.

Hello
Thanks for writing to us

According to report, you are suffering from degenerative disc disease of lumbar spine.
Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis.

1.There are diffuse spondylotic changes in lumbar spine, more severe at L4-5 level. At L4-5 level, there is diffuse disc bulge which is causing narrowing of right lateral recess and it is causing compression over right L5 exiting nerve roots.
This is causing your symptoms.

Majority of the cases of degenerative spine disease are benefited by physiotherapy,so physiotherapy should be tried first.
Surgery should be the last option.
There are also medicines like capsule pregabalin available for pain relief.

Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurologist.

Get well soon.
Take Care
