What Does The MRI Scan Report Mean?

My son had an MRI , he s 12 years old with autism and it said he had the possibility of mild cerebral volume loss, also report stated that the pituitary was 2.4 millilliters which may be small For his age and everything else was normal, what does this mean?

Thanks for writing in.

Autism is a spectrum disorder. Your son has a small pituitary and some mild cortical brain loss. The pituitary hormones need to be assessed and any particular hormonal deficiency must be corrected. This needs a consultation with an endocrinologist. The brain loss is not serious enough from what I interpret however a neurology opinion is important.
