Annular bulge of L4/5 DISC,indenting the thecal sac and encroaching on bilateral neural foramina.focal left foraminal bulge of L5/S1 disc, contactingleft exiting L5 nerve root.mild facetal arthropathy and ligamentum flavum thickening at L1/2 to L3/4 levels
According to MRI report you have degenerative disc disease of lumbar spine. Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis which allows herniation of disc.
1.There is focal disc bulge at L5-S1 level which is abutting left neural foramen and it is in contact with left exiting L5 nerve root. 2.There is also diffuse disc bulge at L4-L5 level which is indenting the thecal sac and encroaching on bilateral neural foramen. 3.There is mild facetal arthropathy and ligamentum flavum thickening from L1/2 to L3/4 levels.
Treatment for degenerative lumbar disease includes physiotherapy or surgery. Effectiveness of both modalities are same. So,physiotherpay should be tried first. It causes strengthening of Para spinal muscles and it prevents further changes. Surgery should be the last option. There are also medicines like capsule pregabalin available for pain relief. Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurosurgeon. Get well soon.
