What Does The MRI With Non Displaced Fracture Of Tibial Plateau Mean?

Hi,

I am a 51 yr old female with osteopenia. Four weeks ago I fell onto a concrete floor onto both knees. My initial x-ray did not show a fracture due to the large effusion around the left knee. i was given crutches and allowed to "bear weight" as tolerated. After 10 days a MRI was performed and I was diagnosed with "a nondisplaced fracture of thr tibial plateau extending into thr medial lateral tibial plateau and is well into the intercondylar notch without menscai or ligamentous tear." I am now in a hinged leg brace but the leg knee still HURTS !!!! What exactly does the diagnosis and prognosis mean ?
