What Does The Abdominal And Transvaginal Ultrasound Result Mean?

I just got results back for an abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound due to pelvic pain. I am 23 years old. My OBGYN is confident it s endometriosis, but sent me for an ultrasound just in case if there was anything else wrong. After we were done and I was changing, I read on the screen that my endometrial lining was 78mm. I thought that must of have been a typo, but when I got my results back online, here is what it said: Endometrium: Normal for a premenopausal woman measuring 78 mm maximally. No focal thickening, masses, or vascularity. 78mm seems ridiculously high. I finished my period a week ago. Do you think it s still a typo and is supposed to be 7.8mm? Or is this normal and I m wrong?

Hi,
Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic.
Endometriosis is a different thing and usually involves places other than the uterus like tubes/ovaries etc. As nothing is mentioned about it, I won't be able to comment on that. In your case, I think you are concerned about the endometrial thickness.
In a normal premenopausal woman, the endometrial thickness is a maximum of 15 mm. I think that was a typo and it should have been 7.8 mm. If you have the images on a CD/film you can check the image for the thickness. In one image there will be a measurement 7.8 mm. 78 mm is ridiculously high. I'm sure it was a typo.
Hope it sorts your problem.
