What Does The Below Blood Analysis Report Of An Infant Suggest?

hi
We have a 1 month (girl) infant at home. the result of her blood analysis is:
bilirubin (total) is 10.68. bilirubin (Direct) is 0.27, her skin is yellow too.
SGOT (AST) is 34 and SGPT (ALT) is 16.
W.B.C is 7.6, R.B.C is 3.29, Hb is 10.3, Hct is 30.7
Her blood group is O+ and her mother's is A-.
What should we do for her. Why after 1 month her skin is yellow. Is it dangerous? What is the remedy?.

Hi.Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
The infant blood analasis shows total bilirubin value of 10.68, which is way above normal & suggestive of jaundice. This is cause of yellow discolouration of her skin.
This jaundice normally occurs because infant's Liver isn't yet able to get rid of excess bilirubin very well. This type of jaundice usually appears about 24 hours after birth and then it goes away in about a week.

Other cause may be Rh incompatibility. This occurs when a mother has -ve blood group & child has +ve blood group, as in your case.

Phototherapy is the most common treatment for reducing high bilirubin levels that cause jaundice in a newborn.Baby lies in a enclosed plastic crib (incubator) and is exposed to a type of fluorescent light that is absorbed by your baby's skin. During this process, the bilirubin in the baby's body is changed into another form that can be more easily excreted in the stool and urine.

Hope this information helps
