What Does The Below Thyroid Sonogram Report Predict?

Hi! My thyroid sonogram reads both thyroid lobes are slightly enlarged with smooth borders and inhomogenous paranchyma measuring 3.7 × 2.04 × 1.81 on the right and 3.49 × 1.9 × 1.9 on the left lobe. A hypoechoic focus measuring 0.9 × 0.9 cm is seen along the tracheal ithmus, more affiliated to the rigjt lobe. The tracheal isthmus is thickened measuring 0.61 cm. Adjacent strutures are unremarkable. What does this mean?thanks

Hello

Findings suggests mildly enlarged both lobes of thyroid with heterogeneous parenchyma. It may be due to thyroiditis etc. This need clinical correlation.
There is also a small hypoechoic lesion near tracheal isthmus.
It may be due to both benign or malignant reasons.

You may need FNAC/Biopsy.This investigation can exactly assess nature of nodule.
FNAC/Biopsy report is vital in management and treatment.
Routine investigation like routine hemogram, thyroid profile should also be done.
CT scan of neck can be done after evaluation.

Get well soon.
Take Care,
Dr.Indu Bhushan
