What Does The Brain MRI Report Suggest?

On MRI brain without contrast results, ordered to evaluate spinocerebellar dis, with ataxia and history of left mastectomy followed by FLAP reconstruction from abdominal fat: can you tell me what relationship, if any, there can be with abnormal signal intensities of both cerebral hemispheres and the pons, plus mucosal thickening in the ethmoid air cells bilaterally, as well as in the left mastoid air cells, observed on the same MRI?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The MRI shows presence of presence of some abnormality in cerebellum and pons.
Cerebellum is part of brain which lies in posterior fossa of skull.
It is associated with maintenance of balance and equilibrium of body.
Ataxia is a condition wherein the ability of body to control balance is lost.
There is a clinical history suggestive of balance disorder i.e. ataxia and a corresponding abnormality is detected in cerebellum.
Mucosal thickening in the ethmoid air cells and left mastoid air cells is suggestive of inflammation of the ethmoid sinus and mastoid.
The thickening of ethmoid mucosa could be due to chronic sinusitis and involvement of mastoid air cells suggests infection or inflammation of middle ear spreading to mastoid.
I suggest you to consult a neurologist for MRI of brain and an ENT specialist for the latter findings for further management.

Thanks and take care
