Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Been on 10 days of antibiotics (Cipro). After 4 days of fever and high white blood cell count, was able to return to work with no fever and normal WBC count. Culture found E Coli bacteria in urine. Diagnosis: UTI or prostatitis. This treatment occurred through urgent care. Went back to my GP on Friday. Trace of blood still in urine. GP stated to continue on antibiotic for 18 more days. Tried Flomax this weekend but may be very dizzy. Sitting on prostate created much more pain than last week. Waiting for recent blood work and urine culture. Pain has increased from 4 to an 8 over the last 3 days. Urine flow is strong compared to 2 weeks ago. Pain is from sitting and also standing (gravity). Will call urologist tomorrow. Any thoughts on how to decrease pain?
You will need to continue the antibiotic pills (restart them in case you stopped them) and also you may take a high dose of an NSAID drug such as Ibuprofen 800 mg every 6 hours after food to help with the pain. Make sure you do drink plenty of water to wash the urinary system.
The urologist will give you further advise afte the visit of tomorrow.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
