What Does The Echo-cardiogram With Mild Impaired Left Ventricular Relaxation Indicate?

Hi. I am a 52 year old woman. Two months After being hospitalized last year with ulcerative colitis, I had dvt/pe. I have been on coumadin since August. When I was discharged from hospital I was on 1 mg coumadin. I have regular pt/inr tests and am currently on 7mg coumadin daily. I have congential lymphedema & have always had ankle & leg swelling, however since pe have much more swelling. Recently had echocardiogram that showed pulomary hypertension, mild impaired left ventricular relaxation, trace mitral regurgitation, mild tricuspid regurgitation w/right ventricular systolic pressure estimated at 55 mmHG indicating moderate pulmonary hypertension.What does all of this mean? Am I at risk for another pe?

Hello ma'am

After going through your medical details I would try to explain things to you in a rather simple way. Your echocardiogram reports tells us that you have leakage in two valve one is of mild type and other a bit more. Pulmonary hypertension in your case is due the Pulmonary embolosm u had which happened due to DVT. Impaired relaxation of left ventricle means your ventricle is not able to relax fully during the stage of blood filling in it which is a common age related change that happens in Heart after 45 to 50 years of age.
Chances of having a pulmonary embolism in DVT patients are more than other people so you need to take good care of yourself in terms of proper medication, checking your INR periodically and keeping yourself mobile and active.
