Hi doc! I have a friend(17 year old, girl) who in her routine blood count got a combination of three abnormal values: ESR 45, Absolute eosinophil count 420 and S. Na 152...She has no complain and is not taking any drug...LFT and other KFT values are normal..Any significance? Thanks!!! Ravi Shankar
Pathologist and Microbiologist, Dr. Jyothi B L's Response
Hi Ravi, Thanks for asking. Looking at the values, My comments are as follows: 1. ESR is raised. It is 45 indicating mild inflammation, maybe fever or recent injury. 2. Absolute eosinophil count is a normal. Normal values are 40-440. Different laboratory have different values. You need not worry about eosinophils 3. S. Na level is a bit raised. normal values are 135-145 meq/L. Ask her to take more fluid or water. It will come back to normal.
Except ESR, none of the values are significant.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
