My 7 month old son has amoebiasis. He is due for a checkup tomorrow. I would just like to learn how to read his fecalysis results. This was the result as of today. Color: yellowish brown. Consistency: Watery Mucoid. WBC: 6-8/hpf, RBC: 1-2/hpf, Fat Globules: Few, Ova & Parasite: None Seen.
The following is the interpretation of your son's fecal-analysis: - color: yellowish brown (normal color is brown, so the color of your son's stool is slightly changed)
- consistency: watery mucoid. This is abnormal too, meaning that his intestines functions is altered. The normal stool does not contain mucus and is not watery.
- WBC and RBC levels mean that there is a source of infection
- A few fat globules means there is alteration of intestinal function
In other words, the fecal analysis is indicating that there is a slight alteration in intestinal function. Infection is suspected.
You are saying that your son has amoebiasis, while, no ova/parasite was seen. Did the doctors carry out any special test other than examination for ova/parasites?
All the best! Dr.Sejdini
