What Does The Following CT Scan Report Mean?

My Ct report says 1.7 cm simple appearing cyst of anterior aspect of the superior pole of left kidney. Mildly hypodense 1.8 cm exophytic lesion projecting from the posterior margin of the left kidney (11HU) suspicious for a cyst, but cannot rule out complex cystic or soft tissue mass lesion. It also showed 4cm Ap by 3.8 cm transverse left adenxal /ovarian cyst.

Welcome to health care magic.

1.The report suggest a cyst on the left kidney upper pole mildly hypo dense in nature.
2.Which is giving HU values more to wards complex cyst - which needs followup scan or contrast enhanced computer tomography will give possible diagnosis.
3.There is a cyst in the left adnexa measuring unto 4 cm, as description does not say any thing about the complex nature of the cyst - we should consider as simple cyst.
4.Simeple ovarian cysts generally needs to monitor - no acute treatment needed unless it causing any discomfort.
5.Finally in this case you need to get a contrast study if not done, if done you need to get a followup scan in 6 months time. If symptomatic treat accordingly.

Good luck.
